Question 1:

The video "Novel Reflections on the American Dream" analyzes several American authors and their treatment of conflict and struggle, our course focus.  Choose three authors, one of whom must be Ann Petry, and compare and contrast their attitudes about the American Dream.

Question 2:

At this point, you should be halfway through Ann Petry's The Street.  Choose two characters to analyze.  Then, find 3 text examples either from or about these characters that you believe are the most significant. Include the page numbers for each. In a few sentences after each example, explain why your selection best illustrate their character traits and what motivates them. Finally, explain why these characters are important to our study of conflict in society.
