Air Pollution Disasters

Choose one of the air pollution disasters described in Chapter 1 (Meuse River Valley, 1934; Donora Pennsylvania, 1948; or London, 1952), and discuss the incident in detail. What were the causes and consequences of the disaster? Your response should contain additional information not covered in the textbook.

 

Question 2:

Research the major sources and emissions of air pollution in your community (www.scorecard.org is a good place to start). What chemicals are they emitting, and how are these chemicals transported through your community (non-point sources, smokestacks, etc.)? Were you surprised at the results? Do you plan to take any action based on the information you discovered?

Your response to each question should be at least 200 words in length. You are required to use at least your textbook as source material for your response. You must also use one outside source. All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations.
